Paper Plane dining in Florence – part 1

Florence is for me the best city to live in, believe me, I have 8 years experience. In this post I will show you some of my favorite restaurants in town with the most interesting and exciting gastronomic experiences.

OSTERIE & TRATTORIE

Osteria di Giovanni

For sure one of the best traditional Tuscan menu’s in Florence, from the classic Ribollita, to the Florentine steak, all presented in a typical Italian style, like plentiful. The atmosphere is casual friendly, the owner Giovanni (of course) will be always around together with his daughter Caterina. They will make you really feel like you are part of the family.

FOR REAL WINE LOVERS

Pitti Gola e Cantina & Osteria dell’Enoteca

The first one is a wine shop, facing the Pitti Palace, in one of the best locations, where you can have a beautiful lunch sitting outside in their terrace, and enjoying a great wine tasting. These guys have really selected the best wines for their wine club and you can also just buy some wine or have it there. They do not have a full menu, just starters and first courses. While the Osteria is a proper restaurant, with a pretty traditional menu, and the same amazing wine selection. I love the atmosphere of the Pitti e Gola for lunch, sometimes I go there by myself and enjoy talking about wine with the guys. While the Osteria is perfect for both dinner with friends or candle light dinner with your partner.

Le Volpi e l’Uva

Also Le Volpi e l’Uva is a wine shop and a place where you can stop to eat all day long. Tasty Crostoni, selection of Italian and French cheeses, only the best cold cuts from the area in a warm and cozy atmosphere, surrounded by wine bottles. Also they do have a wine club and you can just pass by for a glass of wine and pick your bottle for dinner, like most people do. I love to go there also alone and have late lunch at the bar, my dear friend Ciro always has fun of me trying my sommelier skills with blind tastings.
